“With a man man at its helm.” I find myself increasingly uncomfortable with this shoe-horned into the make up of the character. It’s like some kind of forced zaniness doubling up as fan service, in the same way Matt Smith now treats entire aspects of life on Earth as being completely baffling to him (calling football “the one with the sticks” despite his 5th incarnation walking around in cricket gear and playing cricket? Uh oh) so he can do his “madcap acting” segment, even though the previous Doctor was a walking encyclopaedia of the tiniest aspects of 20th Century culture. “Are you some kind of scientist?” “I’m every kind of scientist”.
